The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the principal investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice. The Bureau supports a diverse suite of automated investigative technique, research and development, case execution, case management, intelligence base establishment, and information dissemination applications. New and more capable systems are under development and advanced technologies are being employed to enhance real-world operations.
Tygart has supported the FBI more than 10 years on various program efforts. Tygart supports multiple FBI Divisions including the Information Technology Branch in Washington DC and the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division in West Virginia. Tygart is providing program management, quality assurance, IT security, architecture, and various other services and third party vendor oversight for multiple mission critical law enforcement systems.
Tygart is translating operational and technical requirements into high quality, easily understood operational and technical specifications that bridge the gap between individuals who need improved systems and the vendors who build them. We assist the FBI in taking the steps necessary to increase delivery success of mission critical program efforts. We perform this critical requirement by providing quality professionals that identify risks and resolve them through continuous technical and management oversight of all activities throughout the project life cycle.
Tygart has provided operation and maintenance of one of the largest and most widely used biometric systems in the world – the FBI Integrated Automated Fingerprint Identification System (IAFIS). Tygart provided operations and maintenance support to IAFIS and several other major law enforcement systems. These systems, combined, represented more than $1 billion in information technology hardware and software supporting the national law enforcement and security infrastructure.
